Why I Use “Reading With TLC’s” Programs

Throughout my career as a Speech/Language Pathologist, I have addressed the oral/written language connections within my therapy sessions, as they are absolutely essential for success in school. As a faculty member at Bay Path University, I teach a graduate-level course as part of their Reading and Literacy Instruction Degree and Reading Specialist Licensure programs, which are accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI). My “Language Disorders and Literacy” course explores the influence of oral language on academic performance, including reading and writing. My interest in the oral foundations of literacy development led to the discovery of Reading With TLC’s programs, which are effective, fun, and research-based. I have used Lively Letters ᵀᴹ with reading-impaired children, and the progress they have made is amazing! Seeing their enjoyment of the activities and their improvement in reading skills made me realize that I would like to help other children around the country make rapid improvement in oral reading with these evidence- based structured literacy programs.
